About BioPhenoMA
BioPhenoMA is creating an innovative platform that allows anyone to easily detect ultra-trace proteins to advance the biomedical field. The platform promotes the creation of new drug discovery and therapeutic targets by elucidating drug action mechanisms, in addition to streamlining drug development and realizing personalized medicine.
BioPhenoMA combines the conventional sandwich ELISA method and the enzyme cycling method to detect extremely small amount of proteins without any large equipment or time-consuming pretreatment. In an ideal setting, this method has a detection limit of zeptomole (10-21 mol/assay).
The core technology was developed by Professor Etsuro Ito (Faculty of Education and Integrated Arts and Sciences, School of Education, Waseda University), a leading researcher in animal physiology and biophysics. .
BioPhenoMA Co-Founders
Naoto Fujii, Co-Founder & CEO
Naoto has a mechanical background and strengths in project management and new business development. After graduating from Okayama University (Graduate School of Science and Technology, master's course), worked at GC Corporation, HOYA Corporation (PENTAX Life Care Division), and Teijin Ltd. He has received his MBA from University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Etsuro Ito Ph.D., Co-Founder & CSO
Professor Ito is one of the inventors of the improved enzymatic cycling method, BioPhenoMA’s core technology. After graduating from Waseda University (Department of Physics and Applied Physics, Doctor of Science), Visiting Fellow of NIH (National Institutes of Health), Assistant Professor at Hokkaido University, Professor at Tokushima Bunri University, Waseda University Faculty of Education and Integrated Arts and Sciences Professor (incumbent).
